Resurrections – Jackson Hall Art Gallery, Metropolitan Community Church, New York, 2011.
‘Resurrections’ presents a substantial body of self generated work. The content continues to be inspired by biblical narratives. It includes some earlier works shown at his previous solo exhibitions, ‘Lost and found’, London, ‘Precious in thy sight’, Sheffield and ‘I was blind but now can see’, Birmingham.
The new paintings respond to complex ideas relating to the crucifixion. It re positions the crucifixion in an everyday contemporary context. They represent a daily pain or struggle combined within a conflicting joyousness and uplifting scenario. These paintings represent the emotional conflicts within the everyday.
A series of 70 paintings, mixed media on paper, scale ranging from 20cm x 20cm to 2.25m x 2.36m
